DCS engineering
In our mission to maximize the quality of our services we made a clear choice, and focus on engineering of Emerson Delta V, Invensys Foxboro I/A and its new product Infusion. This way we have a large group of engineers who can work with one of both systems, resulting in better knowledge and high quality. We also have internal system specialists who can be consulted by the other engineers and provide training. These internal specialists have a strong relation with the system vendors.
At this moment we have 10 engineers with Delta V experience and another 8 engineers with I/A experience and trained on Delta V. 3 engineers have experience on Emerson Provox.
On Invensys we have 22 engineers who have experience with I/A Series. 2 engineers have Infusion experience and above this we have 3 engineers who are trained on Wonderware ArchestrA, which is the basis of Infusion.
Beside this we have a broad knowledge and experience on other DCS, PLC and SCADA systems. This knowledge can be used in integration and migration projects in DCS projects and services on Emerson and Invensys systems. We can support the following PLC’s: Siemens S5/S7, Hitachi, Allen Bradly, Schneider, GE Fanuc, ABB SattCon. Furthermore we have engineers with experience on Yokogawa Centrum CS and Honeywell TDC.
ESD Engineering and SIL consultancy
In total we have 10 engineers with Emergency ShutDown (ESD) systems experience, mainly on Tricon en Trident. Besides this we have Hima and Siemens experience. All these engineers have some SIL background.
We also have TüV certified engineers. Besides the implementation of the ESD system and the applications, they can support you on determination of the SIL classification and help you designing the right solution.These TüV certified engineers can apply both Fault Tree Analysis/Quantitative Risk Assessment as LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis).
DCS/ESD Commissioning and System Services
CoSo engineers are not pure application engineers. Our policy is to train more all-round engineers, who are better capable to support customers. Most of our engineers have experience in troubleshooting in both applications as system hardware and software. They know the systems the are using. With their additional knowledge of SIL, ATEX, field busses etc they are perfect to be used during commissioning. They fill the gap between the field commissioning engineers and the application engineers. These engineers are very efficient during the commissioning and start-up phase. They understand the customer and give him advice, solve issues or support him in other ways.
Performance Services
What is the maximum plant performance? How much capacity isn’t used, do we produce against the lowest cost, is all production within spec, are employees efficiently planned? Many questions, where in many cases you don’t have the right answers. Fact is, that based on our experiences, 5-10% of the automated control loops are put in manual mode by the operator. This is a good indicator that your automation investment isn’t working properly. With Loop Tuning you can easily find out what the reason is why a loop isn’t working fine.
Automated systems like DCS and PLC/SCADA are very good in collecting data. But data itself is not interesting. Data needs to be transferred into information. Putting data in a spreadsheet and manipulating this data to get information out of it to detect that there is problem, is done every day. But this is not a real solution. What you need are tools where you analyse the root cause. With Root Cause Analysis you can easily with a low effort find the real cause.
Automation systems are very good in generating alarms. An alarm itself is not information. As soon as a system recognizes the alarm situation you have a valuable tool. When a part of the plant has a failure this normally results in tens, sometimes hundreds of alarms, although we only have one problem. With Alarm Management you can reduce your alarms with sometimes more than 50%.
What CoSo can offer you is a Quick Scan, where we transfer historical collected data in your system(s) into useful information. You will see unexpected relations in your process which are the root cause of problems for a long period.
We offer our Performance Services via a service agreement or via no-value-no-pay agreement. As a customer you don’t have to prove what the value of these services is. That is our task.
